Another worthwhile addition to the awesome v5-v8's in Devil's Den. Start same as Feeling for the Heavens and follow it for a few moves. A about 2/3 of the way up, traverse right on good edges towards the obvious scoop. Cross to the scoop and make a scary deadpoint to a good crimp up and right. Snag the lip and top out. Not quite as good as it's classic neighbor, but still a blast.

A tall and proud line on the back of the Walrus Boulder with a crux move down low. Stand start with your hands on two sloping crimps in the horizontal seam and make a powerful first move to the sketchy looking flake above. Once you've made the first move continue up using sloping holds and the arete for a high off the deck finish on solid holds.

Great arete climbing up a beautiful squarecut corner!  Start standing and make a hard highstep move to gain the arete.  Stick with it until you get a sloping jug at about two-thirds height.  Gather your wits and courage, and figure out the best way to get to the top (hint: look way up high and to the left for a small positive handhold).  Be careful up there...this one's a thriller!

A fun warm up that would receive four stars in Boulder Natural!   Sit start on the giant sloper rail with a left hand sloper or sidepull, and a slightly sharp right hand meathook. Pull off the ground and make a difficult move to the lip, and then figure out how to match. From here mantel on slopers and a good left heel hook along with a good crimp rail.

Start standing with both hands on a large triangular undercling at head height. (Kind of looks like a shark's tooth.) Figure out a way to pull off the ground and latch a good incut crimp up and left (crux). Use another thin crimp rail to reach the lip. Move slightly left and then up via a great hidden jug. 

  A worthwhile climb with cool holds and fairly good quality rock. Another fun line on this great boulder!

Start standing with high crimps (see photo) and climb the seam via some technical footwork and core tension. Figuring out the beta is probably the crux on this one. 

  This is a unique climb on good quality rock, though somewhat awkward from a movement perspective. Definitely worth trying if you're in the area. 

  Technique will take you further than tugging will.

Sit start with a small left hand crimp left of the arête and right hand incut sidepull. Pull on and crank up to a left hand crimp. From here set the feet up and move the right hand up to a good incut, and keep following the arête and the seams up and slightly left. A scrunchy and dabby introduction is followed by a slightly nerve racking finish above a boulder. A fun addition to the Den!

I have been to the Walrus Boulder many times (mainly to work on Individual Medley) and have always stared at this arete. Upon getting the Underground Guidebook and discovering that it is a climb, I got on it and man it's cool!  

  Stand start at the bottom of a small ditch with two crimps on either side of the arete. Execute the difficult (possibly crux) process of pulling on via slippery heelhook. Make a cool, precise move to an almost non-existent sloper. Get an awkward left heelhook and gun for a good left hand crimp. Match and control the swing before grabbing a sloping pinch on the arete. Scrunch your feet up and gun for the lip. throw a heel and top out. I'm on the shorter side, so I may have described more moves than necessary, but the problem is really fun and I highly encorouge you to get on it! 

  This can also be done as a stand start from the good crimp, which bumps it down to about v3, and is also quite worthwhile.

This excellent climb should be on everyone's tick list. Good edges and crimps lead to an exhilarating (but safe) top out high off the deck.  

  Choose from an assortment of holds at 6 feet. Pull off the ground and puzzle a way up to the jugs/large edges at 2/3 height. Take a breath, shake out and continue upwards to finish on good holds.

This is a large round boulder sitting on the hillside below the cliff. It is amongst the first boulders visible and is home to many difficult problems.
