This is a classic boulder problem. If it were sitting down at Gloria's it would be a well known favorite. Squeeze a left hand pinch and pull straight up, or cross through from a slanting slot, to the brick hold - a four finger edge sitting alone in the middle of the overhang. From the brick, make a committing toss to the lip of the boulder. The dyno feels scary, but failure has yet to cause any harm.

Three hard moves out 45 degree overhang. If any part of you is weak, it'll let you know.

Starts in huge hueco underneath the overhang. Climbs out big holds to a difficult lip encounter, then tops out on easier terrain. There's also a good face problem to the left(v3/4), and to the right is Hot Coffee (v5) which starts on the horizontal lip of the boulder and moves left until upward movement is possible on the obtuse arete - quality.

If you like slab climbing, boulder this one. Holds are barely visible for the whole ride, but a perfect sequence is there, trust me.

Hot Coffee is an excellent problem on the Deer Cave Boulder. It starts on the lip of the right side of the roof and climbs left along the lip until upward movement is possible on an obtuse arete. Sequential moves get you up on the face to an easier top out. This problem is named after John Coffee(sp), a teenage kid who froze to death under this boulder sometime in the 90's.

Previously dubbed the 5 Star Circuit, the boulder problems up in Solitude Canyon would be well traveled classics if the boulders were sitting down at Gloria's, but instead they are scattered within the drainage below the more popular Higher and Lower Solitude Walls. There's a handful of worthy problems in the circuit, and if you decide to seek out these problems it's best to assemble a posse and hike up with plenty of pads and a mission to send them all, or at least try. The hike will likely discourage multiple visits, so go with a fun crew and plan to spend most of the day up there. Warming up a little at Gloria's may be a good idea before hiking up into the Canyon.
