An off vertical chimney that chokes down to a few feet of off width and then opens to a chute.  Slither your way up the chute and take a left turn up and over a boulder pile to finish the climb.  This has some wide climbing but don’t worry. There’s plenty of crystals and knobs to plant your feet on as you shimmy up the crack.

Climb up through a couple left leaning, almost horizontal cracks to a slab face.  continue up the slab face, on the left side near the arete, to bolted anchors.  Staying left of the bolt line keeps this climb at 5.6 but taking the right side of the bolt line puts it closer to the 10 range.

The Phoenix Boulder is located NW of Morrell’s Parking lot Boulder in Morrell’s Parking Lot area. It’s got two to three fun climbs in very different style and is well worth a look since it’s only a 10-15 minute easy approach. The boulder gets morning shade till about 10am and is a reasonable choice for early morning climbing on a summer day. It’s also possible to set up a top rope on the PB without having to lead any of the climbs. PB has three sets of good anchors located on it’s summit. No trad gear necessary. If setting up a TR you’ll need 50 ft of cord or static rope (and a little creativity) to extend the anchors and cut down on rope drag; depending on the climb you’re setting up.

 To access the summit scramble up the hill climber’s left of the climbs.
