Navigate up through a few feet of choss to get on the hard rock. Follow jugs and cobbles up the arete to a big jug and top out onto a ledge. From here the best way to top out the crag is walk right along the ledge and do 8 more feet of climbing up some jugs.

Hand Over Fist

"Stabs of Joy" is a phrase coined by C.S. Lewis in his book "Suprised by Joy."

Pull a few moves up the seam before moving a few feet left and up the beautiful crack. It gets steeper as you go up until the final roof move exit. Sidepulls, hand jams, steepness, and good gear make for an excellent pitch of climbing.

At Sherwood Forest, approach the climb by getting to the cliff base at the power line and heading east (right when looking at wall) to one of two sport routes at the area.  The route should be the second sport route.

At the climb, start to the right of the arete on a face with the first bolt on top.  One of the first cruxes is moving over left to the arete.  Once at the arete, follow the bolts up utilizing face pockets and the arete.

Once at the Sherwood Forest area, walk NW from the powerline to the first bolted line on an east-facing wall.  This may be tricky to find from above.

Three bolts protect this climb to two cold shuts.  A tricky start with a high first clip leads to the middle of the route.  The route has big holds until the second crux, where the wall becomes smooth at the last bolt.

Find the start of Hand Over Fist only a few steps away from where you climb down from the power lines. It is maybe 50 feet northwest of where you climb down. Look for an awesome, and steep looking crack that cleaves the wall above. Don't let the guidebook rating of 5.9/10a fool you, because this thing packs a wallop for being as short as it is.

From a funky, overhanging start, find a solid hand jam and finger lock that might allow you to toss for a cobble on the left side of the crack. A good hand jam above the coble will let you get established in the finger/hand/fist crack above. Actually, you end up using a lot of cobbles on the face, too. Hang on for the finish through some wonderful hand jams.

Don't let the looks of this one scare you away. It is a true gem hidden in the canyon. The rock is pretty rough, so tape is definitely recommended. Enjoy!
